BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – The Sarah Lawrence College women's tennis team fell to Hunter College, 7-0, Saturday, September 19, at the Sarah Lawrence Courts. Hunter was designated the home team for the match.
With the result, the Gryphons move to 2-1 on the season, while the Hawks improve to 4-0.
Hunter swept all three doubles matches, earning victories at No. 1 doubles, 6-3; No. 2 doubles, 6-0; and No. 3 doubles, 6-1.
Josephine Jackson and
Neomi Spellman teamed up at No. 1 doubles for Sarah Lawrence, while
Serafina Panuccio and
Caroline He competed at No. 2.
Lillian Rodenhizer and
Carolina Gherardi represented the Gryphons at No. 3 doubles.
The Hawks continued their strong play in singles, sweeping all six matches. Hunter earned victories at No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-3; No. 2, 6-0, 6-0; No. 3, 6-1, 6-1; No. 4, 6-2, 6-1; No. 5, 6-1, 6-0; and No. 6, 6-1, 6-1.
Jackson competed at No. 1 singles, Spellman at No. 2, Panuccio at No. 3,
Addison Chalmers at No. 4, Gherardi at No. 5, and
Elena Valente at No. 6 for the Gryphons.
Sarah Lawrence returns to action Tuesday, September 22, when the Gryphons host Brooklyn College at 5:30 p.m.
