BRONXVILLE, N.Y. — The Sarah Lawrence College women's volleyball team continued its perfect start to the 2026 season Saturday, September 5, earning a pair of victories at the Campbell Sports Center. The Gryphons opened the day with a 3-1 win over Regis College before sweeping the City College of New York (CCNY), 3-0.
With the two victories, Sarah Lawrence improves to 4-0 on the season.
Sarah Lawrence 3, Regis 1
The Gryphons opened the day with a 25-14, 25-16, 23-25, 25-14 victory over Regis. The win marked Sarah Lawrence's first victory over the Pride in three meetings.
Sarah Lawrence controlled much of the match statistically, finishing with advantages in points (59-48), service aces (17-4), blocks (5-1), and digs (57-49). Regis held the edge in kills (43-37) and assists (42-35), while the Gryphons posted a .171 hitting percentage compared to .101 for the Pride.
First-year
Caroline Combs paced the Gryphons with 12 kills, 14 digs, four block assists, and three service aces. Junior
Nikolet Vataj added nine kills, eight digs, and three aces, while sophomore
Olivia Richard finished with seven kills on 11 attacks for a team-best .545 hitting percentage and added four block assists.

Sophia Costa directed the Sarah Lawrence offense with 34 assists, while also recording nine digs, two service aces, one kill, and one block assist. First-year
Charlotte Siemsen added a team-high four aces, three kills, and one block assist. First-year
Kai Perkins anchored the defensive effort with a match-high 16 digs and three aces.
Regis jumped out to a 7-3 lead in the opening set before a Richard kill sparked a 14-4 Sarah Lawrence run. The Gryphons closed the frame with five consecutive points, including two Vataj kills, to take the set, 25-14.
Sarah Lawrence carried the momentum into the second set, racing out to an 8-1 advantage. Regis battled back to make it 19-16, but the Gryphons responded with six straight points, including two Combs service aces, to take a 2-0 lead in the match.
The Pride answered in the third set. After Sarah Lawrence built an 11-6 advantage, Regis used a 7-0 run to move in front, 13-11. The Gryphons regained the lead at 21-19 following a 6-1 run, but Regis scored four straight points late and held on for a 25-23 victory to extend the match.
The fourth set was tied at 9-9 before Sarah Lawrence took control. The Gryphons closed the match on a strong run, allowing just five additional Regis points on the way to a 25-14 set victory.

The Gryphons closed the day with a convincing 25-11, 25-13, 25-13 sweep of CCNY.
Sarah Lawrence dominated across the stat sheet, holding advantages in points (43-17), kills (31-15), service aces (10-1), blocks (2-1), assists (29-14), and digs (48-37). The Gryphons hit .235 for the match, while the Beavers finished at .013.
Vataj led all Sarah Lawrence hitters with 11 kills on .385 hitting and added eight digs and one ace. Costa recorded 24 assists, six digs, two kills, two aces, and one block assist. Richard contributed two block assists and a kill, while Perkins registered a match-high 17 digs to go along with five assists and two service aces.
Following red cards to both teams at the start of the match, the opening set began tied at 1-1. Sarah Lawrence quickly established control, building an 18-6 advantage before closing out the frame, 25-11. Combs and Vataj combined for eight kills in the opening set.
The Gryphons faced a 5-5 tie early in the second set before ripping off eight consecutive points to take a 13-5 lead. CCNY trimmed the deficit to four, but Sarah Lawrence answered with a 7-1 run, highlighted by back-to-back Combs kills, to pull away for a 25-13 win.
CCNY opened the third set with a 6-4 lead, but Vataj responded with a kill that sparked a 12-1 Sarah Lawrence run. The Gryphons took a 16-7 lead and continued to pull away. After reaching match point at 24-11, CCNY scored twice before first-year
Charlee Leonard finished the match with a clean kill.
The Gryphons return to action Thursday, Sept. 10, when they host Stevens Institute of Technology at the Campbell Sports Center. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m.
