Chelsea Sheehan

The 2018 season is Chelsea Sheehan's fifth as Sarah Lawrence College Softball Head Coach.

In 2014, Sheehan was named HVIAC Co-Coach of the Year after leading the Gryphons to a third-place finish in the Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference regular-season standings and a semifinal appearance in the HVIAC Championship Tournament.

The 2015 season saw the Gryphons make their first-ever Spring Break trip, travelling to Myrtle Beach, S.C. for eight games to start the year. The Gryphons picked up six wins--more than the previous three seasons combined--despite the increased challenge of the team's first season in the Skyline Conference. SLC concluded the year with it's second-straight third-place finish in the HVIAC Invitational.

At the end of 2015, SLC's Riley Vuyovich led the Skyline in batting average, doubles/game, on-base percentage, slugging percentage and fewest strikeouts/at-bat. Vuyovich also ranked among the top 10 in NCAA Division III in batting average (fifth), on-base percentage (fifth) and slugging (seventh). As a team, the Gryphons led the Skyline in double plays per game.

The 2016 season saw 10 Gryphons named to the Skyline Academic Honor Roll. Vuyovich was named the College's Athlete of the Year, while rookie Tayrn Penna was honored as Newcomer of the Year. Sarah Lawrence picked up a win over Yeshiva and defeated long-time rival St. Joseph's Brooklyn.

In 2017, the Gryphons achieved their highest win total in team history. Sophomore shortstop Taryn Penna was named to the Skyline All-Conference First Team, becoming the first Gryphon in any team sport to be elected to the honor.

A student-athlete at Iona College, Sheehan graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor's degree in marketing. She went on to receive an MBA in Management with honors.

As a player, Sheehan was a three time Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference All-Academic Team selection. She started in all 61 games of her senior year, helping the Gaels to their third-straight MAAC Softball Championship title. Sheehan was also a two-time MAAC Championship All-Tournament Team honoree.

Sheehan previously worked at Madison Square Garden as a Guest Services Representative. She also spent three years working in the athletic department at her alma mater, Iona.
