Kevin Carbon was elevated to Interim Head Coach in 2018 and removed the interim tag following the 2019 campaign. Carbon joined the SLC coaching staff in fall 2014 as Assistant Coach for softball. The 2020 season is his seventh with the program.
In his first season as head coach, Carbon led the Gryphons to their best season in program history. Sarah Lawrence set a school record for wins (17) and conference wins (7) en route to its first postseason berth in team history.
Under the tutelage of Carbon, Bailey Nguyen '22 (pitcher) and Tiffany McBrayer '22 (outfield) became the first Gryphons at their position to land a spot on the Skyline All-Conference Second Team.
Carbon is a graduate of Mitchell College in New London, Connecticut, where he was a four-year letter winner on the baseball team.
At Mitchell, Carbon graduated Cum Laude in 2013 with a B.A. in Sport and Fitness Management.Â
As a player, Carbon was a member of the 2010 NECC co-Champion team and a member of the 2011 NECC Championship team that made the program's first appearance in the NCAA Division III Baseball Championship. He was also part of the 2013 team that earned the team's first birth in the ECAC Division III New England Baseball Championship.
The Mariners had three winning seasons and sported an overall record of 73-57-2 (48-21 NECC) in his four seasons. In his senior year, he sported a career best 3.86 ERA. In his final appearance, he started against MIT in the quarterfinal round of the ECAC Championship, leaving the game with a 4-2 lead.
