Bronxville, NY – September 12, 2011
The Sarah Lawrence men's soccer team took down the Medgar Evers Cougars 6-3 in the Gryphons' season opener at home this Monday, September 12.
Following a lightning delay, the Gryphons flashed onto the field and struck early in just the fifth minute of play pulling ahead 1-0 and never looking back. Although the Cougars would put three on the board, they would be outmatched by the Gryphons' offense, in particular junior Philip Naess (New York, N.Y./United Nations International School), who scored a hat trick, putting three past the goalie that night, in an impressive performance aided by a swift Gryphons' team on the field.
The Gryphons are set to take on their next opponents, Webb University, away on Saturday, September 17.
