NEW YORK—Sarah Lawrence College swimmers Jay Pulitano (Mountain Lakes, N.J./Mountain Lakes) and Gabby Risica (Narragansett, R.I./Narragansett) have been selected as Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Women's Swimming Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week for the period ending Nov. 10, as announced by the league on Tuesday.

The two Gryphons took part in four of SLC's eight winning swims to help the Green and White defeat SUNY Cobleskill and College of Mount Saint Vincent in Saturday's double-dual meet.

In the day's first race, both Pulitano and Risica took part in the Gryphons' team-record setting 200 yard medley relay. Pulitano led the race with a backstroke leg, and Risica anchored the team with a freestyle leg to set a program record of 2:07.13.

Later in the meet, Pulitano touched the wall first in the 200 freestyle (2:19.52) and finished runner-up in the 100 yard backstroke (1:14.23).

Risica showcased her speed with two individual wins. In the 50 free, the rookie edged two opponents to claim victory in 27.57 seconds, and the sprinter also won the 100 free, taking the race by a comfortable 1.4 second margin in 1:01.57.

The accomplishment marks the second-straight week in which SLC swimmers have captured the HVIAC's Player and Rookie honors.

Sarah Lawrence swimming takes to the pool again on Saturday, as the Gryphons host Mount Saint Mary College and Brooklyn College at 1 p.m.
