NEW YORK—Sarah Lawrence College swimmers
Hannah Lawson (Portland, Ore./Pacific Crest Community School),
Cameron Martinez (Aledo, Texas/Aledo) and
Albert Riley (Long Beach, Calif./Wilson) collected weekly accolades from the Skyline, as announced by the league on Monday. Junior Martinez repeated as men's Swimmer of the Week, while Lawson earned her second women's Rookie of the Week and Riley was tabbed men's Rookie of the Week.
Martinez was named Swimmer of the Week for the second time this season when he placed first in both the 100-yard butterfly (54.64) and the 200-yard individual medley (2:03.93) events on Nov. 8 at Cobleskill. In the double-dual meet, Sarah Lawrence earned a 110-41 win over Mount Saint Vincent to triumph in the team's first-ever conference meet.
Lawson won two individual events and competed on a winning relay to repeat as Rookie of the Week. She placed first in both the 100-yard breaststroke (1:14.44) and 200-yard freestyle (2:10.76) events at Cobleskill. In addition to eclipsing her own record in the breaststroke, Lawson also swam a leg on the winning 400-yard medley relay (4:36.89). Her efforts helped the SLC women to a Skyline win in their first meet as league members.
Riley earns the first Rookie of the Week accolades of his career after earning wins in both the 500-yard freestyle (5:25.40) and 1,000-yard freestyle (11:19.26) events at Saturday's meet. Making his collegiate debut, Riley's 1,000 free time was an SLC record swim, bettering the old mark by 24 seconds.
