Martinez, Lawson and MacMillan Honored by Skyline

NEW YORK—Sarah Lawrence College student-athletes Hannah Lawson (Portland, Ore./Pacific Crest Community School), Cameron Martinez (Aledo, Texas/Aledo) and Finn MacMillan (London, U.K./Bryanston) collected weekly accolades from the Skyline, as announced by the league on Monday. In the first swimming reports of the season, junior Martinez was named men's Swimmer of the Week, while Lawson took the first women's Rookie of the Week honors. MacMillan collected men's soccer Rookie of the Week accolades.

Martinez was named Swimmer of the Week after touching the wall first in three individual events on Nov. 1, as SLC placed first in the three-team Sarah Lawrence Sprint Carnival. His three victories came in the 50-yard butterfly (25.17), 100 butterfly (53.85) and 200 individual medley (2:06.44). Martinez also swam the backstroke leg on the winning 200-yard medley relay (1:54.79) and lead leg of the Green and White runner-up 200-yard freestyle relay (1:44.23). He single-handedly scored more than a fifth of SLC's team points in the meet.

Rookie of the Week Lawson won two individual events and competed on a pair of winning relays to lead the SLC women to first place among six teams at Saturday's Sarah Lawrence Sprint Carnival. She earned first place in both the 100 yard freestyle (59.09) and the 100 breaststroke (1:14.72) events, setting a new school record in the breaststroke. Lawson also swam the breaststroke leg on the SLC record-setting 200-yard medley relay (2:01.84) and was anchor of the winning 200 freestyle relay (1:54.93). She scored one sixth of the team's points on the day.

After being named to the men's soccer Honor Roll earlier this season, MacMillan rounded out his first campaign with a selection as Rookie of the Week. In the Gryphons' final game of the season, MacMillan notched his team-leading fifth goal of the season on Oct. 28 at Maritime. The score marked his third goal in Skyline play, and he led the Gryphons in both goals and points (13) this season.
