BRONXVILLE, N.Y.—In the team's season-opening matches, Sarah Lawrence College men's volleyball was defeated by Brooklyn College, 3-0, and Wells College, 3-0, in a non-conference tri-match at Noyes Court at Campbell Sports Center on Saturday.
Sarah Lawrence (0-2) scored on its first rally of the season, thanks to a service ace by senior setter
Brent Terry (Crownpoint, N.M./Idyllwild Arts Academy). From there, Brooklyn (4-3) took full control of the match, winning 25-7, 25-7, 25-6.
Wells (3-3) took full control of the first set against SLC, scoring 12 kills on 15 attacks. While the Gryphons were able to capitalize on nine Express errors in the second set, SLC was eventually overcome, 25-7, 25-14, 25-7.
In the neutral-site match, Brooklyn defeated Wells in four sets, 22-25, 25-23, 25-20, 25-19.
On the day, junior
Ishaan Pujari (Bangalore, India/Inventure Academy) led the Gryphon attack with seven kills. Sophomore
Cameron Martinez (Aledo, Texas/Aledo) put away four kills, while Terry added three. Pujari also led the team with three aces.
Sarah Lawrence returns to its home court on Tuesday, when the Gryphons host Lehman College for a 7 p.m. match.
