BRONXVILLE, N.Y.—Sarah Lawrence College men's volleyball dropped a pair of matches this week, falling to Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opponent Webb Institute, 3-1, on Tuesday before succumbing to NYU-Poly in a non-conference match on Thursday.

Sarah Lawrence (0-21, 0-4 HVIAC) won the first set against the Webbies, 25-23, but Webb (1-0, 1-0 HVIAC) rebounded to close out the match, 25-15, 25-19, 25-21.

In Tuesday's match, junior Ishaan Pujari (Bangalore, India/Inventure Academy) set an SLC record with 28 kills and completed the double-double with 18 digs. HVIAC Rookie of the Week Nikos Efstratudakis (London, Ontario/American Community School of Athens) notched 33 assists with nine digs, while libero Brent Terry (Crownpoint, N.M./Idyllwild Arts Academy) notched an SLC best 30 digs in the match.

On Thursday, SLC squared off in a rematch against NYU-Poly (5-13), having fallen to the Fighting Blue Jays on Feb. 27. The Gryphons held a slim opening-set lead at 8-7, but the visitors won 13 straight points and 18 of the last 20 in the 25-10 set.

The Green and White stayed within striking distance, trailing 10-7 in the second set, but NYU-Poly scored eight unanswered points to put the set out of reach en route to a 25-12 win.  NYU-Poly was held without any major runs in the third set, but the Gryphon attack was stymied, and the Fighting Blue Jays came away with a 25-14 win to clinch the sweep.

Pujari again led the match, this time with eight kills. Sophomore Cameron Martinez (Aledo, Texas/Aledo) tallied five kills, while Efstratudakis contributed 15 assists.

NYU-Poly was led by Fild Kroqi, who frustrated the Gryphons with 11 service aces, seven kills and 13 assists. Co-setter Rishi Sarkar added 11 assists, while Sarkar, Kroqi and Bennet Goachen posted a team-high five digs apiece.

Sarah Lawrence travels to face a club opponent from Culinary Institute on Saturday. SLC then heads to College of Mount Saint Vincent on Tuesday in the team's final match before Spring Break.
