Men's Volleyball Surmounted by Southern Vermont

BRONXVILLE, N.Y.—Sarah Lawrence College men's volleyball fell to Southern Vermont College, 3-0, in a non-conference match at Noyes Court at Campbell Sports Center on Thursday.

Southern Vermont (8-6) ran away with the first set, leading wire-to-wire en route to a 25-10 win. In the second set, the Mountaineers were hindered by eight attack errors and seven service errors while managing to earn the 25-18 set.

In the third set, Sarah Lawrence (0-17) split the first eight points, but SVC's Scott Fitzgerald served up nine aces in a 13-0 run that led the visitors to a 25-7 final set.

SLC junior Ishaan Pujari (Bangalore, India/Inventure Academy) landed a pair of kills in the match, while senior Luc Mitchell (Chapel Hill, N.C./East Chapel Hill) and rookie Justin Heftel (Spokane, Wash./Saint George's School) each scored a spike. Heftel led the defense with six digs, and Pujari and Mitchell split the Gryphons' only block of the day.

Sarah Lawrence College hosts the club team of College of Staten Island on Saturday at 1 p.m. The Gryphons then host a Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference tri-match on Sunday. St. Joseph's College Brooklyn and Yeshiva University come to Noyes Court for a trio of matches beginning at 11 a.m.
