Box Score
NEW YORK, N.Y.—With the Gryphons making their second-straight postseason appearance, Sarah Lawrence College men's volleyball ended its season with a loss to top-seeded Yeshiva University, 3-0, in the semifinal round of the 2014 Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Men's Volleyball Championship, at Max Stern Athletic Center on Thursday.

Yeshiva (9-17, 6-0 HVIAC) broke open a 10-4 lead in the first set and cruised to a 25-18 win.

Sarah Lawrence (0-25, 0-6 HVIAC) kept the Maccabees within three points in the second set, and the Gryphons took a two-point edge, 13-11. YU fired back with a 7-1 rally en route to a 25-19 set.

SLC scored four unanswered points to take an early 6-4 lead in the third set, but the Maccabees proved too much to handle. Trailing 24-16, the Gryphons made a valiant last-ditch effort and scored five straight points, but YU closed out the set, 25-21, to clinch the three-set sweep.

Reigning HVIAC Player of the Week Ishaan Pujari (Bangalore, India/Inventure Academy) led all players with 16 kills in the match, extending upon his SLC career record. Sophomore Cameron Martinez (Aledo, Texas/Aledo) followed with nine kills.

In his final collegiate match, senior Brent Terry (Crownpoint, N.M./Idyllwild Arts Academy) racked up 13 digs from the libero slot, leading all players in the contest. Rookie setter Nikos Efstratudakis (London, Ontario/American Community School of Athens) tallied 21 assists, concluding the year with 5.69 per set.

With the win, Yeshiva advanced to its fifth-straight Hudson Valley title match. The Maccabees defeated SLC, 3-0, in the 2013 final.

Sarah Lawrence wraps up a tough rebuilding year after losing their all-HVMAC outside hitter from 2013. The season was highlighted by numerous individual performances, including two HVIAC Player of the Week selections for Pujari and one for Terry. Efstratudakis collected a pair of HVIAC Rookie of the Week accolades.
