Women’s Volleyball Finishes 2015 with Skyline Tri-Match

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 BRONXVILLE, N.Y.—Sarah Lawrence College women's volleyball capped off its 2015 season by hosting a Skyline Conference tri-match at Noyes Court at Campbell Sports Center on Saturday. The Gryphons were swept, 3-0, by league leader The Sage Colleges and by St. Joseph's College Brooklyn.

AGAINST THE GATORS
Junior Yolanda Lyne Cando (Arlington, Va./H-B Woodlawn) seven kills to lead the Gryphons in the first match, contributing six digs on defense. Setter CJ Kelley (Las Vegas, Nev./Basic) had nine assists and a service ace with a team-high eight digs. Rookie Seven Green (Akwesasne/Frank Sinatra Sch. of the Arts) had four kills and three assists in the contest.

TAKING ON THE LADY BEARS
St. Joseph's led the first set by as many as six points, but the Gryphons erased the deficit to tie the score at 23-23 before SJC scored twice to close out the frame. In the second set, SLC trailed by one, 15-14, but the Lady Bears pulled away. The Gryphons were in the mix in the third set at 13-9, and the visitors again took control of the match late in the set.

Picking up her fifth double-double of the season, Kelley finished her rookie campaign by leading her team with 10 assists and 16 digs; she also had seven kills in the match. Cando led the offense with nine kills and had 11 digs. Green chipped in with five assists, while Eleni Spentzouris (Naperville, Ill./Naperville North) had seven digs and a pair of assists. Rookie Helen Song (Shenzhen, China/Shenzhen Foreign Language) matched her season-high with two blocks, including her first career solo.

ON THE DAY
Libero Marie Richter (Chemnitz, Germany/St. Andrew's School) finished the day with six digs and an assist. Junior Monet Thibou (Brooklyn, N.Y./Elisabeth Irwin) contributed three kills and four digs.

ON THE SEASON
In her debut season, Kelley racked up 257 assists, the third-most for a Gryphon in a season. She also had 83 digs—eighth on the single-season record board—and 186 digs, good for fifth. Kelley's 16 blocks put her in fourth in a single season.

Cando finished the season with a career-best 99 kills. She claimed fourth on the career kills list (184) and fifth on the career digs board (261).

Rookie Green tallied 122 kills, good for fifth-most by a Gryphon in a single season. Her 65 assists also registered as fifth-best for an SLC player.

Among the other notable marks in the season are the program's first ever triple-doubles (two by Kelley and one by Green). In addition, the 2015 serve percentage is the program's best in the four years of the College's NCAA era.
