Box Score BRONX, N.Y.—In the Gryphons second match of the 2015 season, Sarah Lawrence College men's volleyball was swept by Lehman College, 3-0, in a non-conference match at The APEX on Saturday.
Sarah Lawrence (0-2) was held without a kill in the first set, as Lehman () picked up a 25-3 win.
In the second set, six different Gryphons notched half a dozen kills, while SLC trailed by five, 14-9. A service ace by junior
Alex Carroll (Boston, Mass./Homeschooled) helped close the gap further, 15-13, before the Lightning scored the last 10 points of a 25-13 set. Carroll notched a kill and a service ace in the third set, while Lehman clinched the match, 25-8.
Along with Carroll's two kills and two service aces, sophomore
Amit Sankaran (San Francisco, Calif./Mallya Aditi International) had two kills in the match. First year
Richie Warke (Vancouver, Canada/Rockridge Secondary) and junior
Cameron Martinez (Aledo, Texas/Aledo) each tallied a match-high four digs.
For Lehman, Ahmad Abugharbieh led all players with seven kills, while setter Emmanuel Ortiz had 17 assists and nine aces.Â
Sarah Lawrence returns home to compete on Sunday. The Gryphons host their first-ever Skyline matches when they take on College of Mount Saint Vincent at 11 a.m. and Yeshiva University at 3 p.m.
