Box Score MAHWAH, N.J.—In the teams' first-ever meeting, Sarah Lawrence College men's volleyball was defeated by Ramapo College, 3-0, in a Skyline match at the Bradley Center on Thursday.
Ramapo (11-12) swept the first set, scoring 14 kills and six service aces. Sarah Lawrence (0-10) won the first point of the second set, and a kill by junior
Alex Carroll (Boston, Mass./Homeschooled) gave SLC another lead at 4-3. Classmate
Cameron Martinez (Aledo, Texas/Aledo) also had a kill in the set, as did sophomore
Isaac Gamboa (Bakersfield, Calif./Stockdale). In the final set, SLC scored two points via Roadrunner service errors.
Sophomore
Amit Sankaran (San Francisco, Calif./Mallya Aditi International) led the Gryphon defense with four digs, while Martinez and Gamboa each recorded one. Setter
Richie Warke (Vancouver, Canada/Rockridge Secondary) and senior
Derek Komar (Stormville, N.Y./John Jay) each had one assist.
Both teams return to action on Saturday, March 21. The Gryphons travel to New Jersey City University to face the host Gothic Knights at noon. SLC and Ramapo then meet in a rematch at 2 p.m.
