Box Score RIVERDALE, N.Y.—With little over a week remaining in the 2015 season, Sarah Lawrence College men's volleyball was defeated by College of Mount Saint Vincent, 3-0, in a Skyline match at the Peter Jay Sharp Center on Wednesday.
For Sarah Lawrence (0-14, 0-9 Skyline), sophomore
Amit Sankaran (San Francisco, Calif./Mallya Aditi International) scored the team's first kill, capitalizing on a pass from junior
Cameron Martinez (Aledo, Texas/Aledo). Sophomore
Isaac Gamboa (Bakersfield, Calif./Stockdale) had a service ace in the first set, while setter
Richie Warke (Vancouver, Canada/Rockridge Secondary) assisted a kill by junior
Alex Carroll (Boston, Mass./Homeschooled) later in the frame.
In the second set, senior
Derek Komar (Stormville, N.Y./John Jay) had a service ace, as did Carroll. Martinez landed a kill from Warke, and the Green and White capitalized on 17 errors by Mount Saint Vincent (14-9, 8-5 Skyline). The third set included another kill by Martinez from Warke.
On defense, Martinez tallied a team-high six digs, followed by Sankaran with four and three each by Komar and libero
Justin Heftel (Spokane, Wash./Saint George's School). Sankaran contributed two solo blocks, as did Gamboa.
The Gryphons travel to NJCU on Friday before hosting Purchase College and No. 5 Kean University on Saturday. The Green and White then travel to The Sage Colleges for a Skyline tri-match on Sunday before concluding their year at home on Thursday, April 2, against St. Joseph's College Brooklyn.
