BRONXVILLE, N.Y.—Sarah Lawrence College men's volleyball concluded its inaugural Skyline season with five conference matches over three days. The Gryphons traveled to NJCU on Friday before hosting Purchase College and No. 5 Kean University on Saturday. SLC then went on the road for a tri-match at The Sage Colleges, featuring a rematch with Kean.
On Friday, Sarah Lawrence fell to NJCU (14-9, 6-4 Skyline), 3-0. Junior
Cameron Martinez (Aledo, Texas/Aledo) recorded a season-high six kills in the match, leading all Gryphons. Sophomore
Amit Sankaran (San Francisco, Calif./Mallya Aditi International) landed three kills and led the team with six digs. Setter
Richie Warke (Vancouver, Canada/Rockridge Secondary) had seven assists in the match.
Saturday's match against Purchase (8-16, 3-9 Skyline) featured a team-high five kills by Sankaran. On defense, Martinez had three digs, while he and Sankaran split a pair of blocks. Warke reached 10 assists in the contest.
In Sarah Lawrence College's first-ever contest against a ranked NCAA Division III opponent, Sankaran had a team-best three kills against No. 5 Kean (26-3, 12-0 Skyline). Martinez also recorded a pair of kills, while sophomore
Isaac Gamboa (Bakersfield, Calif./Stockdale) posted four digs.
On Sunday, Sage (9-14, 6-7 Skyline) swept the Gryphons, while Martinez again led the Gryphon offense, tallying five kills. Gamboa had three kills in the match, and Warke had 10 assists. Sankaran led the defense with six digs.
In the team's final Skyline match of 2015, SLC fell to Kean in straight sets. Martinez and Sankaran both led the Green and White on offense, while Gamboa had four digs on defense.
During the weekend, Martinez led the Gryphons with 30 kills overall, contributing 14 digs. Sankaran had 13 kills and team-highs with 16 digs and three blocks. Warke recorded 34 assists, while Gamboa had 14 digs.

Alex Carroll (Boston, Mass./Homeschooled) had three kills, two blocks and an ace. Senior
Derek Komar (Stormville, N.Y./John Jay) recorded two kills, two aces and five digs. Rookie
Brendan McAlevy (Fairfax, Va./Paul VI Catholic) had his first career kill and added two digs. Sophomore
Justin Heftel (Spokane, Wash./Saint George's School) rounded out the lineup with a kill and four digs.
Sarah Lawrence concludes the 2015 season at home on Thursday. The Gryphons host St. Joseph's College Brooklyn at 7 p.m.
