Box Score 2 NEW YORK—Sophomore
Amit Sankaran (San Francisco, Calif./Mallya Aditi International) led the Gryphon offense with 10 kills as Sarah Lawrence College men's volleyball fell to The Sage Colleges, 3-0, and Yeshiva University, 3-0, in Skyline action at Max Stern Athletic Center on Sunday.
Sage (6-9, 4-4 Skyline) presented a formidable challenge to Sarah Lawrence (0-8, 0-4 Skyline). The Gators won at least eight of the first 10 points in each set on the way to their sweep.
Junior
Cameron Martinez (Aledo, Texas/Aledo) led the Gryphons with four kills in the match, while rookie setter
Richie Warke (Vancouver, Canada/Rockridge Secondary) recorded eight assists. Junior
Alex Carroll (Boston, Mass./Homeschooled) had a team-high six digs.
Against Yeshiva (3-10, 2-6 Skyline), the Gryphons kept it close as they trailed by one, 9-8, early in the second set. From there, YU went on a 11-3 run to break open its lead. The Green and White picked up 17 points in both the second and third sets.
Sophomore
Amit Sankaran (San Francisco, Calif./Mallya Aditi International) totaled a career-high nine kills against the Maccabees and finished with a combined 10 kills and four blocks. Warke had a season-best 15 assists against YU and ended the day just shy of 50 assists on the season.
Martinez led the Gryphon defense with 10 digs against Yeshiva, matching his career best. He finished the day with eight kills.
Rookie
Isaac Gamboa (Bakersfield, Calif./Stockdale) tallied four blocks on the day, and his three blocks against Sage are the most by any Gryphon in a single match this season. He contributed six kills and eight digs in the tri-match. Rookie
Brendan McAlevy (Fairfax, Va./Paul VI Catholic) made his collegiate debut, playing in both matches.
Up next, Sarah Lawrence returns home to host Medgar Evers College on Tuesday. The non-conference match is slated to start at 7 p.m. at Campbell Sports Center.
