Riley Vuyovich (Toms River, N.J./Toms River North) and men's tennis player
Adam Neufeld (Bronx, N.Y./The Calhoun School) were honored for their achievements in the past week.
SOFTBALLVuyovich went 7-for-9 (.778) over four games last week. In the team's doubleheader against Lehman, Vuyovich hit a perfect 6-for-6, reaching base two other times with a walk and hit-by-pitch. The rookie rounded the bases to score four times and batted in five other runners. In addition, she hit a pair of doubles against the Lightning, taking over as SLC's career doubles leader.
MEN'S TENNISNeufeld went 4-0 last week, helping the Gryphons to victories over St. Joseph's College Brooklyn and York College (N.Y.). Playing at No. 2 singles, he picked won both of his matches in straight sets. Along with partner
Elliott Warkus (Waimea, Hawai'i/Parker School), the seniors swept their St. Joseph's opponent, 8-0, before pulling out a tiebreaker victory against York, 9-8 (7-3).
