GALLERY: 2015 Athletics Banquet
BRONXVILLE, N.Y.—On Monday, the Sarah Lawrence College Department of Athletics and Physical Education capped off the academic year with its Annual Athletics Banquet at Noyes Court at Campbell Sports Center. Representatives of all SLC's varsity programs were recognized for their achievements in athletics and academics.
Winners of the 2015 Alice Stone Ilchman Scholar Athlete award are seniors
Elizabeth Emery (Mexico, N.Y./Mexico) and
Jay Pulitano (Mountain Lakes, N.J./Mountain Lakes). Emery was a four-year student-athlete on the cross-country team. She was named HVIAC all-conference in 2014 and is a three-time academic all-conference honoree. Pulitano participated in swimming all four years, breaking team records on 24 occasions. He is a three-time all-academic honoree and two time all-conference selection, and he won six Hudson Valley conference titles.
For the third year in a row, junior swimmer
Cameron Martinez (Aledo, Texas/Aledo) was honored as Athlete of the Year. A first-team all-Skyline honoree, he repeated as UNYSCSA Champion in the 100 and 200 yard butterfly and posted NCAA Championship qualifying times for the second year in a row. Sophomore
Natalie Grieco (Glen Ellyn, Ill./Fenwick) was also named Athlete of the Year after leading the women's cross country team to a fourth-place finish at the Skyline Championship, exceeding expectations in the league. She was named to the all-Skyline second team.
The department also recognized Newcomers of the Year
Hannah Lawson (Portland, Ore./Pacific Crest Community School) and
Andre Garibaldi (New Hope, Pa./New Hope-Solebury). Lawson broke six women's swimming records in her rookie season, including both of the program's breaststroke marks. Garibaldi took over a role as the men's basketball starting center and was a major contributor to the men's tennis team.
The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee honored Emery with the SAAC Gryphon Award. Emery was a dedicated member of the committee and was recognized by her peers for her committment to SLC athletics and for embodying the spirit of NCAA Division III.
Eighteen Gryphons were presented with the Varsity Award for successful varsity participation in at least three academic years:

In addition to department award selections, each team honored a Most Valuable Player (MVP) and a recipient of the Coaches Award, recognizing spirit, dedication and determination. SLC Equestrian also selected its annual Rasky Award recipient.
