NEW YORK—Sarah Lawrence College student-athlete
Cameron Martinez (Aledo, Texas/Aledo) has been named the 2014-15 Skyline Conference Men's Swimming Scholar-Athlete of the Year, as announced by the league on Monday.
Martinez joins nine other student-athletes from around the conference to be recognized in their respective winter and spring sports.
In swimming, the Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award is presented to the first-team All-Conference performer who carries the highest cumulative grade point average (minimum 3.30) for both the fall and spring semesters of the 2014-15 academic year.
At the 2015 Skyline Swimming Championships, Martinez established a meet record in the 200-yard butterfly (2:02.35) and also placed first in the 100-yard butterfly (54.06) and 200-yard freestyle (1:51.01) events. In the process, Martinez became the first SLC student-athlete to capture first-team Skyline All-Conference accolades.
Martinez is set to defend his Skyline and UNYSCSA titles in his senior season in 2015-16. He also seeks his third-straight season with a national-championship qualifying time.
