Box Score 2 THROGGS NECK, N.Y.—Sarah Lawrence College women's volleyball took to the road on Saturday for the team's first road matches of 2015. In non-conference action, the Gryphons were swept by host Maritime College and by Bard College at Riesenberg Gymnasium.

AGAINST THE PRIVATEERSIn a non-conference match, host Maritime took a 13-4 advantage to start the day, and despite a 4-0 Gryphon rally, the Privateers took the first set. Shannon Brady served Maritime through a 13-point streak in the second set.
THE THIRD SETFor SLC, Skyline Rookie of the Week
CJ Kelley (Las Vegas, Nev./Basic) had an early service ace to put the Gryphons in front, 3-0. Kills by
Seven Green (Akwesasne/Frank Sinatra Sch. of the Arts) and
Yolanda Lyne Cando (Arlington, Va./H-B Woodlawn) helped the Green and White keep the edge at 10-8. After Maritime tied the match at 10, three straight Privateer errors gave SLC the lead again. Sarah Lawrence held its own up to 19-19 before Maritime won the last six points to clinch the sweep.
STATISTICALLY SPEAKINGBrady did damage with 10 service aces, while Maritime's Carly Lombardo led the match with eight kills. Green led the Gryphons with five kills, followed by Cando with four. Kelley and
Hanna DeLoe (Stamford, Conn./CGS at Brien McMahon) led all players with two shared blocks, and Kelley anchored the SLC defense with a match-high seven kills.
ATTACK OF THE RAPTORSIn the opening set of the second match, Bard landed 16 kills against two attack errors. The Raptors had trouble with their serve, committing six service errors. For the Gryphons, Green and DeLoe each posted a kill and an ace in the opening set, while
Monet Thibou (Brooklyn, N.Y./Elisabeth Irwin) added another service ace.
ERROR PRONEIn the second set, SLC scored the first three points of the set on Bard errors before the Raptors struck back. Eight of the Gryphons' 14 points came on Bard errors. Green led SLC with three kills, while Cando and Kelley added a kill.
Eleni Spentzouris (Naperville, Ill./Naperville North) landed a service ace. The final set saw Bard's offense come together and score 10 of the final 11 points of the three-set match.
SLC LEADERSIn the second set, Green again led the Green and White with five kills, while Cando added three. Thibou finished with a block, and Cando had five digs.
UP NEXTSarah Lawrence plays its first Skyline match of the season on Wednesday when the Gryphons travel to Farmingdale State College.
