BRONXVILLE, N.Y.—In Sarah Lawrence College's first-ever match as full members of NCAA Division III, women's volleyball swept Medgar Evers College, 3-0, at Noyes Court at Campbell Sports Center on Thursday.

Seven Green (Akwesasne/Frank Sinatra Sch. of the Arts) led all players with nine kills, while
CJ Kelley (Las Vegas, Nev./Basic) racked up five aces, two blocks and 17 assists to lead all players in the three categories.
Hannah DeLoe (Stamford, Conn./CGS at Brien McMahon) led the match with eight digs. Junior
Yolanda Lyne Cando (Arlington, Va./H-B Woodlawn) pitched in six kills on offense, followed by four from classmate
Monet Thibou (Brooklyn, N.Y./Elisabeth Irwin).
FOR THE COUGARSAnnMarie Benberry had three service aces, eight assists and four digs. Kalifa Roberts led her team with eight kills, and three Cougars each had a block.
BIG RUNThe Gryphons took control of the match in the first set, winning 10 of 11 points to turn a 5-4 deficit into a 14-6 advantage.
KEY MOMENTIn the third set, with the teams tied 20-20, MEC won three of the next four points to take a 23-21 edge. Coming out of an SLC timeout, the Cougars scored on a Gryphon attack error to reach set point, 24-21. The SLC rally was put in motion by a MEC attack error and kill by Green, as the Green and White scored five straight points to close out the match 26-24.
SOUND SMARTSince 2010, the Gryphons are 2-4 in season openers. The only other win in that time frame was a 3-1 win over Medgar Evers in 2013.
