NEW YORK—Following the Gryphons' final regular-season meet of the 2015-16 season, Sarah Lawrence College men's swimmers
Cameron Martinez (Aledo, Texas/Aledo) and
Anthony Lee (Stevensville, Md./Kent Island) were recognized as Skyline Men's Swimmer of the Week and Men's Swimming Rookie of the Week, as announced by the league on Monday. Martinez's selection is his sixth of the season, while Lee has been honored as rookie for the fourth time; the duo has swept the Skyline men's swimming awards three times this season.
MEN'S SWIMMER OF THE WEEKCameron Martinez (Aledo, Texas/Aledo)In the final dual meet of his career, Martinez cruised to victory in both of his individual events against College of Staten Island. He swam to victory in the 200 yard freestyle in a time of 1:53.32, winning by a margin of more than three seconds. The senior Gryphon also picked up a win in the 200 butterfly 1:54.89. He finished the regular season undefeated in butterfly events in dual-meet competition. Martinez joined Lee in a runner-up effort in the 400 freestyle relay.
MEN'S SWIMMING ROOKIE OF THE WEEKAnthony Lee (Stevensville, Md./Kent Island)Lee secured one win against CSI in the final meet of his rookie season. He touched the wall first in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 50.92 seconds, edging his closest opponent by 0.18 second. The sprint specialist nearly picked up a win in the 50 freestyle, but his time of 23.85 seconds was less than half a second behind his Dolphin opponent. Lee joined Martinez in a runner-up effort in the 400 freestyle relay.
