Swimming Teams Named CSCAA Scholar All-America

NORFOLK, Va.—The Sarah Lawrence College women's and men's swimming teams were among those named College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-America Teams, as announced by the organization on Tuesday. The awards are in recognition of collegiate teams that achieved a grade point average of 3.0 or higher during the 2015 Fall Semester.

CSCAA Executive Director Joel Shinofield described the time demands placed on swimming and diving student-athletes. "We really are fortunate to work with the best of the best. In reality, some would argue that swimmers and divers have some of the most demanding practice schedules, but we find that in most cases their athletic drive and academic goals simply reinforce one another."

Among Division III schools, 130 women's teams and 84 men's teams earned recognition for their academic achievement. On the women's side, SLC's combined GPA of 3.49 tied for 25th-highest in the nation. The men's team ranked among the top 50 in the nation with a 3.22 combined grade-point average. Both marks were well above most Division I and Division II programs.

In addition, the Sarah Lawrence squads were the only teams in the Skyline Conference to receive the honors.
