BRONXVILLE, N.Y.—In the teams' first-ever meeting, Sarah Lawrence College men's basketball was defeated by The College of New Rochelle, 84-77, in a non-conference game at Noyes Court at Campbell Sports Center on Saturday.

Gabriel Eng (Brooklyn, N.Y./The Beacon School) gave the Gryphons a 4-0 advantage, and another Eng trey gave the team its largest lead of the game 25-20 with five minutes to play in the first period. CNR regained the lead with a 16-6 run before SLC senior
Graham Gilleran (San Francisco, Calif./Archbishop Riordan) closed out the first half with a buzzer-beater three-pointer, making it 36-34 at the break.
New Rochelle led wire-to-wire in the second half. The Gryphons kept the deficit to no more than 10 points for the first 13 minutes of the period, yet the Blue Angels opened up a 75-60 advantage with just under six minutes remaining in the game. Jeff Jordan II (Smithfield, Va./Smithfield) and
Mat Gerak (Monroe, Conn./Masuk). The Gryphons trailed 80-71 with less than two minutes to play before Sarah Lawrence closed the gap to three points, 80-77, with 27.1 seconds to play. The six point run included a layup from junior
Malin Segal (Wenham, Mass./Concord Academy) and four Gryphon free throws. In the end, CNR converted a pair of free throws on two Blue Angels' possessions, and SLC was unable to capitalize on the Gryphons' end of the floor, resulting in the visitors' win.
TOP GRYPHONS
Jordan led the Gryphons with 18 points, adding a team-high seven rebounds along with three assists. Rookie
Joseph Kleeman (Greenwood Village, Colo./Arapahoe) hit double-digits for the fourth time in five games, matching his career-best 13 points while swiping five steals. Eng totaled 12 points along with five steals and five rebounds. Gilleran tacked on 10 points, adding six rebounds and three assists.
Segal came off the bench to score eight points, and rookie
BJ Sanders (Silver Spring, Md./Georgetown Prep) scored six points to go with four rebounds. Sophomore
Austin Jones (Upper Marlboro, Md./Flint Hill School) notched five points, three rebounds and two assists.
