BRONXVILLE, N.Y.—In the Gryphons' 2016 home opener, Sarah Lawrence College men's volleyball was defeated by The Cooper Union, 3-0, in a non-conference match at Noyes Court at Campbell Sports Center on Saturday.

Callan Moor (Los Angeles, Calif./New Roads) had two kills, while first year
Darcy Thompson (Highland Park, N.J./Highland Park) and sophomore
Richard Warke (Vancouver, Canada/Rockridge Secondary) also had kills in the set. Junior
Isaac Gamboa (Bakersfield, Calif./Stockdale) landed two kills in the second set, while Thompson notched his second of the match.
In the third set, Moor came alive with four kills, while senior
Alex Carroll (Boston, Mass./Homeschooled) had two. Gamboa, Warke and senior
Zach Hasl (Somers, N.Y./Soundview Preparatory) also had kills in the set. Warke, Moor and Gamboa also scored points on service aces, while the Gryphons combined for two blocks.
FOR THE GRYPHONSMoor had four digs in addition to his match-high six kills and a service ace. Gamboa led the defense with 11 digs, totaling three kills, an ace and a block. Libero
Gavin Spilker (Weston, Ohio/Otsego) tallied seven digs in the match, and Warke recorded 12 assists.
FOR COOPER UNIONKevin Shi and Jeffrey Tam led CU with six kills apiece. Setter Justin Posiero had 14 assists in the match, while Shi and Sun Eui Kim each had two aces. Kim totaled eight digs, and Tam shared a match-high two blocks with Misha Luczkiw.
UP NEXTSarah Lawrence hosts a Skyline Conference tri-match on Sunday. Action against Purchase College begins at 11 a.m., and Yeshiva University will be featured in the latter matches.
