AGAINST NJCUFour different Gryphons had a kill against the Gothic Knights including senior
Alex Carroll (Boston, Mass./Homeschooled), junior
Isaac Gamboa (Bakersfield, Calif./Stockdale), and rookies
Callan Moor (Los Angeles, Calif./New Roads) and
Darcy Thompson (Highland Park, N.J./Highland Park). Setter
Richard Warke (Vancouver, Canada/Rockridge Secondary) had three assists and served up an ace, while libero
Gavin Spilker (Weston, Ohio/Otsego) posted the fourth assist.
On defense, Carroll recorded his seventh block of the season. Moor and Warke shared a team-high four digs.
Maxwell Savo (Cross River, N.Y./John Jay) made his second appearance of the season.
For the Gothic Knights, Daque Wilcox had a match-high eight kills. Sheldon Coure led the team with five aces, while Kendall Tribbett contributed four blocks and 10 assists. Erick Nascimento led all players with 15 assists.
AGAINST SAGEThe Gryphons fared better against the Gators, as SLC totaled seven kills in the first set and 12 kills in the match. SLC jumped out a 3-0 lead in the second set for its largest advantage of the day.
Moor led SLC with five kills in the match, followed by three kills by Carroll. Gamboa added a pair of kills, and Thompson and Warke had one apiece. Gamboa had a service ace, and Carroll notched another block. Warke assisted two-thirds of the kills for another eight assists.
Moor and Gamboa tallied six digs each, and Spilker and Warke followed with five digs apiece. Senior
Zach Hasl (Somers, N.Y./Soundview Preparatory) also had a dig.
Sage's Bailey Cecchi led all players with 12 kills. Setter Anthony Gerace had 28 assists, and Melvin Tejada posted a match-high nine digs.
UP NEXTSarah Lawrence hosts Sage in a rematch on Sunday. Action kicks off at noon and will be followed by a Skyline showdown between Sage and Purchase College at approximately 2 p.m.
