BJ Sanders (Silver Spring, Md./Georgetown Prep) scored a season-high 16 points and recorded his third double-double, as Sarah Lawrence College men's basketball was defeated by St. Joseph's College Long Island, 68-58, in Skyline action at the Danzi Center on Saturday.

Graham Gilleran (San Francisco, Calif./Archbishop Riordan) scored a layup that gave the Gryphons another edge, 6-5. Sophomore
Gabriel Eng (Brooklyn, N.Y./The Beacon School) scored his first points of the game on a successful three-pointer to tie the contest, 11-11, before Sanders contributed to another tie with a layup, 13-13. The Golden Eagles scored the next 10 points to take the lead for good.

Malin Segal (Wenham, Mass./Concord Academy) made a pair of three-pointers to send Sarah Lawrence on a 9-0 run to narrow the deficit to 27-26, but by halftime, St. Joseph's held a nine-point margin, 38-29. Segal led the Gryphons in the first half with nine points, while co-captain
Mat Gerak (Monroe, Conn./Masuk) scored eight points, and Sanders had seven.
The Golden Eagles held a double-digit advantage for the first six minutes of the second half. Sophomore
Parker Hagmaier (Oakland, Calif./Bishop O'Dowd) scored his first points of the game on a three-point field goal with 13:45 to play, and in the same minute
Jeff Jordan II (Smithfield, Va./Smithfield) made it a six point game, 47-41.
Segal and Hagmaier both scored critical baskets to keep the Gryphons within four points in the latter half of the period. With five and a half minutes to play, Sanders kept Sarah Lawrence within reach, 56-52. From there, St. Joseph's scored the next seven points, and preserved a three-possession lead for the remainder of the period.

Sanders led the team with his season-high 16 points and matched his best with 13 rebounds for his third double-double. Segal finished the game with 15 points, all on three-point baskets. Gerak also reached double-figures with a 10-point effort along with a team-high four assists. Eng rounded out his day with five rebounds, while Jordan and Hagmaier finished on five points apiece.

Sarah Lawrence hosts St. Joseph's College Brooklyn in the teams' final game of the month on Tuesday. The Gryphons then hosts Maritime College on Thursday. Both games tipoff at 7:30 p.m.
