Men's Volleyball Hosts Skyline Tri-Match

BRONXVILLE, N.Y.—
Sarah Lawrence College men's volleyball began its 2017 Skyline schedule with a tri-match against College of Mount Saint Vincent and Purchase College at Noyes Court at Campbell Sports Center on Saturday.

IN SHORT
Mount Saint Vincent (6-9, 1-0 Skyline) def. Sarah Lawrence, 3-0.
25-16, 25-8, 25-18.

Purchase (6-3, 1-1 Skyline) def. Sarah Lawrence (0-8, 0-2 Skyline), 3-0.
25-10, 25-11, 25-3.

AGAINST MOUNT SAINT VINCENT
Sarah Lawrence scored three of the first four points of the day, including a service ace by first year Ithai Diakov (Sofia, Bulgaria/B.I.S.) and a kill from rookie Harris Silcott (Los Angeles, Calif./CHAMPS Charter). Eight CMSV errors helped lift the Gryphons to an 11-6 advantage over the Dolphins. Silcott notched a second, while rookie BJ Sanders (Silver Spring, Md./Georgetown Prep) had a kill and a service ace in the set.

In the second set, Sanders landed two kills, and senior Isaac Gamboa (Bakersfield, Calif./Stockdale) added a kill. Diakov served up his second ace of the day, while Gamboa and Diakov shared the team's only block of the match. Sophomore Callan Moor (Los Angeles, Calif./New Roads) scored the Gryphons' only offensive point of the third set with a service ace.

On defense, Sanders led the team with six digs, followed by Silcott with five. Moor totaled four digs, and Diakov and Gamboa had two apiece. Diakov assisted all six kills, and junior Maxwell Savo (Cross River, N.Y./John Jay) recorded a dig.

AGAINST PURCHASE
The Gryphons took another 3-1 first-set lead against the Panthers and held another edge at 4-3. Moor had the team's first offensive point with the team's only kill of the set. Gamboa landed a kill in the second set, and Moor had two kills and a solo block. Sanders and rookie Zack Roccaforte (Albuquerque, N.M./Albuquerque Academy) shared another block late in the frame. The third set saw Sanders earn his only kill of the match, and Moor was credited with his team-high fourth of the match.

On defense, Moor led the squad with six digs followed by Gamboa's four. Diakov, Roccaforte and Savo had two digs each; Diakov also finished with three assists.

UP NEXT
Sarah Lawrence continues Skyline action when the Gryphons host Yeshiva University on Tuesday at 7 p.m. The match is SLC's final in the squad's nine-match homestand; the Green and White hit the road to face The City College of New York on Thursday.
