Box Score BROOKLYN, N.Y.—The Gryphons stole two sets from the host Cougars, yet Sarah Lawrence College men's volleyball fell to Medgar Evers College, 3-2, in a closely-fought non-conference match at the Cougars Cave on Monday.

MATCH FLOW
Sarah Lawrence held a three-point, 9-6, advantage in the first set before the Cougars tied the score, 9-9. The Gryphons benefited from 16 MEC errors in the set but were held to just six kills as the hosts won 25-22.
In the second set, the Gryphons clawed back from a 12-7 deficit and went on to tie the set at 17-17. SLC took its first lead of the frame, 20-19, following a service ace by senior
Isaac Gamboa (Bakersfield, Calif./Stockdale), yet the Cougars responded by winning six of the final eight points, 25-22.
Medgar Evers held a 5-2 edge in the third set before a five-point Gryphons rally gave SLC the 7-5 advantage. The lead exchanged hands an SLC-record eight times in the set, and the intensity rose as the teams dueled to a 22-22 deadlock. MEC went ahead 24-23, yet the Green and White fought off the match point and won the set, 26-24.
The fourth set began with the Cougars jumping out to a 9-3 lead, and once again, the Gryphons responded. Five straight SLC points turned a 12-8 deficit into a 13-12 advantage. Following a 16-16 tie, the Gryphons went ahead for good and held on to win, 25-20, and tie the match at two sets apiece.
In the decisive set, Sarah Lawrence scored the first point on an attack error before Medgar Evers pulled away, 10-4, and cruised to the 15-9 win to clinch the match.
TOP GRYPHONS
For the first time this season, two Gryphons finished with double-digit kills in the same match. Sophomore
Callan Moor (Los Angeles, Calif./New Roads) notched his second double-double of the season with his team-high 11 kills and 10 digs; he also led the squad with three blocks at the net. Rookie
BJ Sanders (Silver Spring, Md./Georgetown Prep) landed 10 kills and helped the defense with six digs and a block.
Rookie
Harris Silcott (Los Angeles, Calif./CHAMPS Charter) had 10 digs in the match, reaching double-figures for the fourth time this season; he also tacked on four kills, two assists and a team-high three service aces. Gamboa totaled 24 assists with seven digs and a pair of kills.
First year
Ithai Diakov (Sofia, Bulgaria/B.I.S.) contributed nine digs and three kills in the match, while junior
Maxwell Savo (Cross River, N.Y./John Jay) recorded eight digs and two blocks. Rookie
Zack Roccaforte (Albuquerque, N.M./Albuquerque Academy) had a dig in the match.
