Sarah Lawrence (9-7) def. St. Joseph's Brooklyn (8-9), 2-0.
RECAP
The two teams squared off for the second time in five days in front of a large crowd at Fleming Field, each looking for its first-ever postseason win.
McBrayer scored the game's first goal in the 15th minute. The rookie received a pass from classmate
Gaia Dennison, dribbling the ball up the field and into the box before finishing to the left post.
The first year provided insurance for the Gryphons in the 86th minute, blasting a shot from the top of the 18-yard box into the netting. It's McBrayer's second multi-goal performance of the season.
Sarah Lawrence, hosting its first-ever playoff game since moving to NCAA Division III, controlled possession for much of the evening, manufacturing 26 shots, including 10 attempts on frame. McBrayer took a game-high 17 shots, putting seven on target.
The Gryphons' back line did an excellent job stifling the Bears' offense, limiting St. Joseph's Brooklyn to one early shot attempt in the first half.
Madison Mertsch's lone save of the contest was critical, making a diving effort in a crowded box to keep the sheet clean. The Gryphons have now posted four shutouts in 2018.
Riding a program record three-game winning streak, Sarah Lawrence has a budding home advantage at Fleming Field. The Gryphons finished a perfect 4-0, outscoring their opponents by an 18-2 margin.
