BRONXVILLE, N.Y. - The Sarah Lawrence women's basketball team hosted Merchant Marine Thursday in a Skyline matchup at Campbell Sports Center. The Mariners defeated the Gryphons, 72-49.

TOP GRYPHON PERFORMERS
Taryn Penna scored a team-high 15 points, while recording five rebounds, two blocks and two steals.

Camryn Davis finished with 12 points, four assists and a pair of steals, while Emmamazy Prior and Ruth Doberenz contributed six points apiece.

RECAP
It was a back and fourth first quarter between the two squads in the opening minutes, but back-to-back field goals from Melanie Coleman and Penna gave Sarah Lawrence a 16-12 lead with 1:36 remaining in the period. Merchant Marine scored in the final minute to tie the contest 16-16 heading into the second quarter.

The two programs traded a field goal in the opening minute, but the Mariners began to pull away, scoring 16 unanswered points to open up a double-digit lead (36-18) they would not relinquish for the remainder of the evening, securing its second conference win of the season.
