BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – The Sarah Lawrence women's volleyball team used a school-record 34 aces on Wednesday to defeat York, 3-0, for the squad's first victory of the season at Campbell Sports Center.

The Gryphons' 34 aces beats the previous mark of 25 set last season in a win over Old Westbury.
Sarah Lawrence opened the match with a 9-1 run, highlighted by seven aces, to cruise to a 25-8 set victory. The Gryphons built up a 10-2 advantage in the second set to win, 25-10, and take a commanding 2-0 series lead. The Cardinals hung around in the final game, but a 9-0 spurt from Sarah Lawrence completed the sweep for its first win of 2018.
Melanie Coleman finished with a game-high 12 kills in the victory, while
Cat Ramey recorded 11 aces. Her 11 aces are the second-most in a three set match in program history. Ramey, the 2016 NCAA statistical champion in aces per set, holds the school record with 12.
Helen Song and Lucy Decarlo finished with five aces each, while
Camryn Sanchez added three,
Alicia Blanco contributed two, and
Sarah Gartner registered one.
Isabel Pecora continues to be the squad's primary setter, tallying a game-high 14 assists. The first-year also contributed seven aces in the team's second consecutive victory over the Cardinals.
