BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – Melanie Coleman set a school record for kills on Friday, leading the Sarah Lawrence women's volleyball team to a 3-2 come-from-behind victory over King's (N.Y.) at Campbell Sports Center.

The Lady Lions, who entered the day with wins over Rosemont, Yeshiva and Cooper Union, cruised to a 25-15 victory in the opening frame. King's raced out to an 8-3 lead in the second set, but the Gryphons battled back with six straight points to take the lead. The two teams continued to trade points, with King's leading by a 22-20 margin. Sarah Lawrence outscored the Lions 5-1 to end the game and knot the series, 1-1.
The Lions jumped out to a 17-9 advantage in the third set, but Sarah Lawrence did not go away, rallying back with a 16-8 spurt to take a one point lead. The two programs traded points, but the Lions prevailed, 28-26, to take a 2-1 series edge.
Facing elimination, the Gryphons scored the last four points of the fourth set to force a decisive fifth game. Playing in front of an electric crowd at Noyes Court, Sarah Lawrence fed off the energy, winning the final game, 15-13 to seal its second straight win.
Coleman's 27 kills are the most in the NCAA era, surpassing the previous program best of 21 set by
Francesca Kohani in 2016. The sophomore also contributed 10 digs, three aces and one block.
Isabel Pecora posted a career-high 37 assists, the second-most recorded in school history. The program record in 39, set by CJ Kelley in 2016. The first-year also added seven digs, one ace and one kill.
Coming off an 11-ace performance in a win over York,
Cat Ramey, the nation's leader in aces, finished with four, while posting 11 digs and six kills.
Camryn Sanchez finished with five kills, while Lucy Decarlo finished with three and
Helen Song notched one.
Lauren Kilroy registered 18 digs in the victory.
