KINGS POINT, N.Y. – The Sarah Lawrence women's volleyball team was defeated in straight sets Wednesday at Skyline preseason favorite Merchant Marine at Liebertz Gymnasium.

RECAP
Merchant Marine, who earned six of 12 first-place votes in the Skyline Preseason Poll, raced out to a 10-2 advantage in the opening game, going on to win the set, 25-14.

The Mariners got off to a fast start in the second set, jumping out to a 12-4 lead, cruising to a 25-13 victory and 2-0 series lead. Merchant Marine completed the sweep with a 25-17 verdict in the final set.

Melanie Coleman paced the Gryphons with six kills and two block assists, while Davis Mathis finished with a team-best nine digs. Isabel Pecora handed out a team-high six assists and two block assists in the loss.
