BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – The Sarah Lawrence women's volleyball team was defeated in four sets Tuesday to defending conference champion Mount Saint Vincent at Campbell Sports Center.

Sarah Lawrence, coming off a road win at Lehman on Saturday, traded points with the Dolphins in the opening frame for a 14-14 score. The Gryphons created separation, outscoring Mount Saint Vincent 7-2 for a 21-16 advantage. The Dolphins shrunk the deficit to two, but Sarah Lawrence held on for a 25-21 victory and 1-0 series lead.
Mount Saint Vincent, picked second in the Skyline Preseason Poll with four first-place votes, tied the series with a 25-17 win in the second set. The Dolphins took control of the match with a 25-21 decision in the third set and a 25-17 win in the final frame to secure the win.
Melanie Coleman finished with nine kills, three aces and three blocks, while
Gabrielle Hegedus added six kills and a pair of aces.
Davis Mathis posted a season-high 12 assists, while
Clarise Steiner added 22 digs.
