BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – The Sarah Lawrence women's volleyball team was defeated in four sets Tuesday to defending conference champion Mount Saint Vincent at Campbell Sports Center.

Before the match, Sarah Lawrence Athletics and the women's volleyball program recognized the 2019 senior class, featuring Lauren Kilroy and Francesca Kohani.

Sarah Lawrence, coming off a road win at Lehman on Saturday, traded points with the Dolphins in the opening frame for a 14-14 score. The Gryphons created separation, outscoring Mount Saint Vincent 7-2 for a 21-16 advantage. The Dolphins shrunk the deficit to two, but Sarah Lawrence held on for a 25-21 victory and 1-0 series lead.

Mount Saint Vincent, picked second in the Skyline Preseason Poll with four first-place votes, tied the series with a 25-17 win in the second set. The Dolphins took control of the match with a 25-21 decision in the third set and a 25-17 win in the final frame to secure the win.

Melanie Coleman finished with nine kills, three aces and three blocks, while Gabrielle Hegedus added six kills and a pair of aces. Davis Mathis posted a season-high 12 assists, while Clarise Steiner added 22 digs.
