Men’s Basketball Cruises to 84-65 Victory Over Pratt on Homecoming 2019

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – The Sarah Lawrence men's basketball team opened the 2019-20 campaign on Saturday with an 84-65 victory over Pratt at Campbell Sports Center on Homecoming 2019.

TOP GRYPHON PERFORMERS
Liam Barry had his best collegiate performance to date in the season opener, scoring a career-high 17 points (7-11 FG). The sophomore also recorded five rebounds, four blocks and one steal.

BJ Sanders scored 17 points in the win, while accumulating six rebounds, three assists, two blocks and one steal. Enike Anyia reached double-figures, scoring 15 points, while collecting nine boards and one steal.
 
Omar Jamaleddine posted his first double-double of the year, finishing with 14 points and a career-best 17 rebounds, highlighted by seven offensive boards.

Isaiah Pean, Chris Torres, Justin Bailey and Daniel Golub each hit a pair of field goals in the victory.

Sarah Lawrence, who entered the game winners of seven consecutive meetings over the Cannoneers, built up a double-digit margin 5:57 into the contest and didn't look back, shooting 50-percent from the field in the opening frame to take a 43-21 lead into halftime.

Sarah Lawrence, coming off its best season in program history in 2018-19, was active on the defensive end in the opening period, holding Pratt to 22-percent shooting while forcing 14 turnovers. The Gryphons recorded eight steals and eight blocks in the stanza.

Sarah Lawrence kept its foot on the gas in the second half, holding a lead as large as 28 in the period en route to the season-opening victory.

The Gryphons did most of their damage inside, outscoring Pratt in the paint, 50-16. Sarah Lawrence finished with nine blocks, a new team record, breaking the previous standard of eight posted in 2014 against The King's College.
 
With the win, Sarah Lawrence improves to 8-0 all-time under head coach Chris Ehmer, the 2018 Skyline Men's Basketball Coach of the Year. The Gryphons have now won their last nine home openers.
