Men’s Hoops Heads Into Postseason With 77-62 #SkylineMBB Win at St. Joseph's Long Island

PATCHOGUE, N.Y. - The playoff bound Sarah Lawrence men's basketball team entered postseason play on a high note, wrapping up the regular season with a 77-62 win over St. Joseph's Long Island at Danzi Gym. The Gryphons finish the regular season 14-11 overall and 12-8 against Skyline opponents.

TOP GRYPHON PERFORMERS
Omar Jamaleddine scored a game-high 20 points, reaching 20 or more points for a ninth time this season. It was also the rookie's sixth double-double of the year, as he grabbed 13 rebounds.

BJ Sanders finished with 19 points on 50-percent shooting, while hauling in six boards. Andrew Varoli scored 12 points, hitting 4-of-9 attempts from beyond the arc. 

Austin Jones finished up his final collegiate regular season with 10 points, five rebounds and three assists, while Enike Anyia posted eight points and 10 rebounds in the win. 

RECAP
The Gryphons turned in a strong performance for their program-record 14th win of the season. With the victory, Sarah Lawrence picks up its third season sweep of a league opponent this year. The Gryphons have also swept Merchant Marine and St. Joseph's Brooklyn.

Sarah Lawrence scored a season best 50 first-half points, highlighted by 13 points apiece from Sanders and Jamalaeddine.

The two teams exchanged quick spurts within the first six minutes for a 12-12 score with 14:13 on the clock. The Gryphons got it going offensively, surging ahead of the Golden Eagles with a 32-8 run over  10:03 to open up a 44-20 lead. Sarah Lawrence did a great job crashing the boards, collecting 10 offensive rebounds in the half, converting it into 14 second chance points.

St. Joseph's Long Island cut into the deficit before the break, but found themselves in a 50-29 hole at halftime.

The Golden Eagles did not go away in the second half, shrinking the margin down to 13 (61-48) with 9:22 to play. Following a timeout, Sarah Lawrence used a 12-5 run to push the lead back up to 20 (73-53) with 4:36 remaining, going on to secure its first-ever win at Danzi Gym.
