Softball Sets New Team Record, Picks Up Non-Conference Sweep Over Baruch

NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Sarah Lawrence softball team won a pair of non-conference games Tuesday over Baruch at Randall's Island. The Gryphons won the first game, 10-0, followed by a 21-3 victory in the nightcap.

TOP GRYPHON PERFORMERS
Zoe Kim had a solid performance for the Gryphons, going 7-for-8 (.875) with three RBIs and six runs scored.

Bailey Nguyen batted .833 (5-for-6) with three RBIs and four runs scored, while Alexa Zartman-Ball went 5-for-8 with two RBIs and two runs.

Hannah Akin finished with five hits, one RBI and five runs scored, while Baylie Petit recorded five hits, a team-best five RBIs, and five runs scored.

Tiffany McBrayer had three hits, three RBIs and four runs, while Peyton Kullander notched three hits, three runs batted in and one run scored.

Alison Thorson recorded her first collegiate hit on the day.

Karissa McAuley had a strong outing in the circle in game one, yielding four hits while striking out eight batters in a shutout. Delaney Parker pitched in the second game, going the distance with two earned runs and seven strikeouts.

The Gryphons plated seven runs in the opening inning, taking advantage of miscues from the Bearcats throughout the frame.

The Gryphons scored two more runs in the third inning, highlighted by a two-run inside-the-park homer from Kim, her second of the season. Sarah Lawrence tacked on one more run in the fifth, fueled by a RBI single from McAuley.

Sarah Lawrence scored in each of the five innings of play. The Gryphons scored four runs in the first inning, three in the second, seven in the third, three in the fourth and four more in the fifth to secure the sweep.

Sarah Lawrence registered 28 hits in the victory, the most in a single game in team history. The squad's 21 runs and 32 total bases are the third most in team history, while Petit's five RBIs are the third highest total in school history.
