KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Three Sarah Lawrence College student-athletes were named to the 2018-19 National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Honors Court, announced by the organization on Wednesday. The NABC Honors Court recognizes men's collegiate basketball student-athletes who excelled in academics during the past season and honors the talents and gifts that these men possess off the court and the hard work they exhibit in the classroom.
Representing Sarah Lawrence on the NABC Honors Court includes
Gabriel Eng '19,
Austin Jones '19 and rising senior
BJ Sanders. Eng, Jones and Sanders are three of 14 student-athletes from the Skyline Conference to land a spot on the list.
In order to be named to the Honors Court, a student-athlete must meet a high standard of academic criteria. The qualifications are as follows:
1. Academically a junior or senior and a varsity player.
2. Cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.2 or higher at the conclusion of the 2018-19 academic year.
3. Students must have matriculated at least one year at their current institution.
4. Member of a NCAA Division I, II, III, or NAIA Division I or II institution with a NABC member coach.

The NABC began recognizing the academic achievement of men's collegiate basketball student-athletes with the first Honors Court in 2006-07. Sarah Lawrence has had players honored in 2016-17 (5), 2017-18 (2) and 2018-19 (3).
The news comes days after the
men's basketball program was presented with the NABC Team Academic Excellence Award.
Sarah Lawrence just wrapped up its best campaign in team history, setting records for wins (14), conference wins (12) and road victories (7), posting a 14-12 overall mark, its first winning season in school history. Picked to finish ninth in the Skyline Preseason Poll, the Gryphons exceeded expectations, earning a postseason berth for the first time in team history.
