BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – The Sarah Lawrence women's volleyball team split a non-conference tri-match Saturday with Pratt and New Jersey City University at Campbell Sports Center. The Gryphons suffered a 3-1 loss to the Cannoneers, but bounced back to defeat the Gothic Knights by a 3-1 score in the nightcap. Sarah Lawrence now stands at 5-1 overall on the season.

Match 1: Sarah Lawrence 1, Pratt 3
Sarah Lawrence, who came into the match winners of its first four contests of the year, won the opening set by a 25-21 margin. The Cannoneers, who entered the day winners of back-to-back matches, tied the series 1-1 in the second set with a 25-18 victory.
Pratt took a 2-1 series lead in the third game, rallying back from a 19-11 deficit to take the set, 27-25. The Cannoneers controlled the final set, racing out to a 19-9 lead en route to the series victory.
Melanie Coleman finished with 11 kills, four aces and a pair of blocks in the loss, while
Davis Mathis and
Clarise Steiner added four kills apiece.
Isabel Pecora paced the Gryphons in assists (17) and digs (16), while Steiner chipped in with six assists and 14 digs. Mathis added 11 digs of her own and a block, while
Camryn Sanchez added three aces.
Match 2: Sarah Lawrence 3, NCJU 1
The Gryphons, who entered the match 0-9 all-time against NJCU, won the first set convincingly by a 25-13 margin. Sarah Lawrence took a 2-0 series lead following a 25-17 decision in the second set.
The Gothic Knights, coming off a three-set loss to Pratt in the second game of the tri-match, forced a fourth game with a 25-13 win in the third set. In the final frame, tied at 24, Sarah Lawrence used a kill from Coleman and an ace from Steiner to earn its first-ever victory over the NJAC program.
Coleman finished with 11 kills in the win, while
Lauren Kilroy added kills and 17 digs. Pecora tallied 21 assists, while Steiner contributed a game-best 23 digs.
