Women’s Volleyball Drops Pair of Matches

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – The Sarah Lawrence College women's volleyball team suffered a pair of losses Saturday, falling to Brooklyn (3-1) and Rutgers-Newark (3-0) at Campbell Sports Center.

TOP GRYPHON PERFORMERS
Melanie Coleman finished with 20 points on the day, collecting 15 kills, two aces and four total blocks. Clarise Steiner accumulated 14 kills and 35 digs, while Lauren Kilroy added nine kills and four aces.

Davis Mathis recorded eight kills, three aces and three total blocks, while Isabel Pecora contributed seven kills, 43 assists and 35 digs.

Match 1: Sarah Lawrence 1, Brooklyn 3
Brooklyn, who entered the match winners of back-to-back contests, won the opening set, 25-20, to take a 1-0 series lead. Sarah Lawrence, who entered the match winners of three straight contests, tied the series in the second set with a 25-22 victory.

The two teams battled in the third set, but the Bulldogs prevailed with a 28-26 win to take a 2-1 series lead. Brooklyn concluded the match with a 25-12 victory in the fourth game.

Match 2: Sarah Lawrence 0, Rutgers-Newark 3
It was a back and forth opening frame between the two squads, but the Scarlet Raiders, coming off a four-set victory over Brooklyn, won the game 25-22. Rutgers-Newark won the second set, 25-13, and cruised to a 25-8 victory in the third game to clinch the series sweep.
