DANBURY, Conn. – The Sarah Lawrence women's volleyball team suffered a pair of losses Saturday at a non-conference tri-match at Western Connecticut State's Stephen Feldman Arena.

In the first-ever meeting between the two programs, the Anchorwomen raced out to a 15-9 lead in the opening set, taking the game by a 25-18 score.
RIC, who lost its opening match to Western Connecticut, jumped out to a 21-9 advantage in the second set. Sarah Lawrence rallied with seven unanswered points to shrink the margin to five, but the Anchorwomen held on for a 25-19 decision. RIC completed the series sweep with a 25-15 victory in the final frame.
Melanie Coleman finished with a team-high 12 points, collecting nine kills, one ace and a pair of blocks.
Lauren Kilroy added four kills and 15 digs, while
Clarise Steiner contributed three kills and 15 digs.
Isabel Pecora handed out 18 assists in the loss.
Match 2: Sarah Lawrence 0, Western Connecticut 3
The Colonials, who entered the contest winners of five straight matches, cruised to a 25-10 victory in the opening set. In the second set, the two squads exchanged points for a 10-10 score. Western Connecticut created separation with five consecutive points, fending off the Gryphons for a 25-18 win and 2-0 series lead. The Colonials completed the sweep with a 25-18 decision in the final game.
Coleman posted five kills and an ace, while Steiner (18) and Kilroy (15) combined for 33 digs. Pecora tallied 13 assists in the loss.
