BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – The Sarah Lawrence College women's volleyball team is off to its best start since 2001, improving to 4-0 on the season Sunday with victories over Valley Forge and The King's College at Campbell Sports Center.

In the first ever meeting with the Patriots, Sarah Lawrence raced out to a 10-5 lead in the opening frame to win the set, 25-17. In the second game, the two teams exchanged points for a 17-17 score. The Gryphons scored back-to-back points to hold a 19-17 cushion, going on to win 25-21, for a 2-0 series lead. Sarah Lawrence completed the sweep, scoring the final three points of the third set to secure the victory.
Melanie Coleman led all participants with nine kills and nine aces, while
Isabel Pecora tallied a game-best 19 assists.
Davis Mathis made her collegiate debut, finishing with four kills, while
Clarise Steiner, the reigning Skyline Libero of the Week, led the squad with nine digs.
Match 2: Sarah Lawrence 3, King's 0
Sarah Lawrence cruised in the opening game, scoring the set's first 10 points en route to a 25-16 win. In the second set, tied 9-9, the Gryphons outscored the Lions 16-3, highlighted by a pair of 7-0 runs, to win the game 25-12 and take a 2-0 series advantage. Sarah Lawrence completed the sweep, rolling to a 25-8 decision in the final set.
Coleman recorded 14 kills in the victory, while
Lauren Kilroy added eight and
Gabrielle Hegedus posted seven. Sarah Lawrence finished with 15 aces, including five from Pecora and three apiece from Steiner and Davis. Pecora also contributed 26 assists while Steiner chipped in with 13 digs.
