Anyia, Jamaleddine Lead Gryphons to 89-80 Victory Over First-Place Purchase

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – Enike Anyia and Omar Jamaleddine posted 20-point outings Tuesday to lead the Sarah Lawrence men's basketball team to an 89-80 victory over Purchase at Campbell Sports Center. With the win, Sarah Lawrence improves to 10-12 overall and 6-7 in league play, securing the season sweep over the conference foe.

TOP GRYPHON PERFORMERS
Jamaleddine led all scorers with 24 points, while contributing eight rebounds, seven assists and a pair of blocks.

Anyia finished with a stat line of 23 points, seven rebounds, two assists and two blocks, while BJ Sanders chipped in 14 points, eight boards, three assists and a pair of blocks.

Liam Barry poured in 12 points while dishing out four assists in the victory.

Sarah Lawrence, fresh off a win over Merchant Marine on Saturday, raced out to a 16-6 lead 4:33 into the game. The Panthers, who entered the game winners of three straight, settled in, using a 14-3 spurt to take a 20-19 advantage with 11:15 to play. SLC led by as much as nine in the frame, but Purchase continued to hang around, as the Gryphons held a 42-39 edge at intermission.

In the second half, the two teams continued to trade field goals, as the frame featured four ties. Following a pair of free throws to knot the contest (70-70) with 4:30 remaining in regulation, SLC pulled away for good in front of an electric Gryphons' fan base, using a 12-3 run to take a 82-73 lead with 1:22 left to play. Purchase got within five with 28 seconds remaining, but six straight free throws due to a series of foul calls, highlighted by five consecutive tosses from Jamaleddine, sealed the deal for the Gryphons, securing the pivotal league win.

Three players finished in double figures for Purchase, including a 21-point performance from Elijah Lott.
