Skyline standings
BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – The Sarah Lawrence men's basketball team picked up its second-consecutive home victory Saturday afternoon at the Campbell Sports Center, as the Gryphons scored an important 71-58 decision in Skyline Conference play over the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. With the victory, the Gryphons move into a third-place tie in the conference's North Division with Maritime College.

Sarah Lawrence (9-12, 5-7) defeated USMMA (8-13, 4-8) by a 71-58 score. Both teams celebrated "Pride on the Court" Day by wearing custom Nike t-shirts during warm-ups.
TOP GRYPHON PERFORMERS
Junior
Enike Anyia led all players and a group of four SLC double-digit scorers by scoring 21 points on 7-for-8 shooting from the field, and a 7-for-9 display at the charity stripe after drawing a game-high 10 fouls on the low blocks.
Sophomore
Omar Jamaleddine collected a double-double with 14 points and as many rebounds (game-high).
Senior post player
BJ Sanders picked up 12 points (6-for-10 FG) and six caroms, while sophomore
Andrew Varoli buried four trifectas on six attempts off the bench for 12 points.
RECAP
Neither side led by more than six points in the opening 20-minute set, with the teams combining for four ties and as many lead changes over the stanza. USMMA took its largest lead of the day at the 14:28 mark when Connor Green buried his second trey of the afternoon in transition to push his side ahead, 12-6. The Gryphons responded with a 14-2 run over 3:20 of game action to push in front by a 20-14 count when Anyia buried a pair of free throws with 9:51 remaining. The Mariners took their last lead of the day at 25-24 with 2:43 to go on a Michael Bell free throw, before seven-straight markers by the home side helped SLC to take a 31-27 edge into the halftime break.
Sarah Lawrence incrementally built their lead to 47-36 on Sanders's bucket in the paint 8-plus minutes into the second frame, before USMMA utilized an 11-2 run to cut its deficit to two (49-47) on a Seth Barnes long-distance shot with 7:01 to go. Seven of the next eight points of the game went the Gryphons' way, and the visiting side never got closer than six the rest of the way as Sarah Lawrence shot 8-for-8 from the charity stripe over the final 2:15 of the contest.
