BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – The Sarah Lawrence College men's basketball team closed out the first half of the season on Saturday afternoon, hosting the Lehman College Lightning. SLC fell 75-57.
The Lightning began the contest with a 9-0 run. The Gryphons responded quickly, bringing the game to within one point over the next two minutes and 14 seconds. A bucket from
Liam Barry at the 15:31 mark gave the gryphons their first advantage of the night. It was back-and-forth from there for the rest of half, resulting in five lead changes before the intermission. Lehman went into the break ahead by three.
Xiyuan Zhang kicked off the second half with a three-pointer, evening the score at 39. Shortly after, a 14-4 run from the Lightning created some separation between the teams. Lehman held a 10-point advantage with just over 14 minutes to play. SLC brought the game to within seven but that was the smallest margin for the rest of the contest. Lehman outscored the Gryphons 22-11 in the final 13 minute, taking the game by 18.
Liam Barry was the high-scorer of the night for the Gryphons, going for 11 points. The senior guard added nine rebounds.
Chris Torres finished with 10 points and five boards. Zhang sunk three shots from deep and
Justin Bailey dropped seven points and a team-high 10 rebounds.
