NEW YORK -
Georgi Massey tallied a career-high 13 kills as the Sarah Lawrence College women's volleyball team went up against John Jay College on Tuesday night. The Gryphons dropped the match to the Bloodhounds 3-0.
SLC built a 3-0 lead to start the first set, eventually widening the gap to 7-1. Back-to-back kills from
Skyler Kawecki-Muonio and
Mia Rector gave SLC a 17-12 edge. The Bloodhounds went on a 6-0 run, grabbing their first lead of the night. With the set level at 18, John Jay used a 7-1 outburst to take the first set 25-19.
Trailing early in the second set, head coach
Sovanny Ebbesen called a timeout with the Gryphons down 9-5. After the break, SLC strung together a 19-14 run, taking a 24-23 lead. With the set even at 25, John Jay scored the final two points, winning the second set 27-25.
The Bloodhounds held the advantage throughout the entirety of the final set. Massey had seven kills in the third set. The set ended 25-19 in favor of John Jay.
