FAMRINGDALE, N.Y. – Demitra Loukopolous cracked the 20-point mark for the second time this season as the Sarah Lawrence College women's basketball team faced off against Old Westbury on Thursday night. The Gryphons fell to the Panthers 78-69.
All five starters finished in double figures. Loukopolous went for 23.
Kumi Tamura dropped 12 point and added five assists.
Jordyn Medina etched her second double-double of the season, recording 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Camryn Davis also posted a double-double with 11 points and 10 boards. The senior had a team-high six assists.
Kendall Haymore finished with 11 points.
The Gryphons started the game on an 8-3 run. The Panthers closed out the first quarter on a 20-4 run, heading into the second with a 23-12 advantage.
SLC fought back, closing the gap and eventually taking a 29-27 edge with three minutes left in the first half. Old Westbury ended the second quarter with a 9-2 spurt, heading into the break ahead by five.
The teams went back-and-forth in the third quarter. SLC retook the lead near the midway point, but Old Westbury took it back around the three-minute mark of the quarter. The Panthers were up 53-50 going into the last quarter.
OW maintained the lead for the rest of the contest. Tamura knocked down a three-pointer with three minutes and 45 seconds remaining, bringing the contest to within two, but OW did not budge, ending the game with a 14-7 run.
